Braces

The most common metal braces use wires and elastics to gently shift teeth over time using mild constant pressure. Ceramic braces are tooth coloured clear braces which are less noticeable. Self lligating braces are also another option and use a built in system to hold the wire in place.

Clear Aligners

For those with great discipline and commitment, we have a clear aligner system called Spark. These are clear active retainers that hold onto your teeth by means of attachments placed on them. For those on the move, public speaking or just do not want fixed braces in their mouth; this is a great option for straightening your teeth.

Elastics

Elastic bands work by applying additional force to certain areas of the mouth to move the teeth into the desired position.

Orthognathic Surgery

Performed by an Oral or Maxillofacial surgeon, teeth are straightened with orthodontics and corrective jaw surgery repositions misaligned jaws to ensure that teeth meet correctly and function properly.

Orthodontist vs Dentist

Both professionals improve oral health, only in different ways. Dentistry is a broad medical specialty that deals with the teeth, gums and nerves. While Orthodontics is a specialty within dentistry which focuses on correcting bites, occlusion and teeth straightening. Crooked teeth may be caused by underlying skeletal issues which may be outside of a Dentist’s scope of treatment. When they encounter such situations, the Dentist will refer the patient to an Orthodontist.
